Lacks Distance
I must agree with previous reviewers. I pulled off my previous sets of Calloway clones for these heads, not changing the shafts or grips. I believe my distances have gone down at least 5 yards with these heads. Too bad too because they really do feel nice and look good.

Good Irons, but lack distance
I have been playing Diamond Tour golf clubs for a long time and have been very happy with them. This is my 3rd complete set of irons from DT and I am having some mixed feeling about them, they look at feel great but the distance is lacking.

I would consider myself to be your typical avid weekend player, I have a handicap in the low teens.

For comparison my previous set of irons had the Grand Hawk XR Tour heads. Both sets of irons (previous and new) have the same type of shaft - DT Nergy Steel Iron Shaft.

Out of the box the irons look beautiful. They have a great finish and the craftsmanship is superb, and they are put together well by DT. Looking down at address the top line is fatter than my previous set, not a bad thing, just something to get use to. At first swing they feel great, well-balanced.

I have played about 8 rounds with them in varying conditions. They have a nice fluid feel. Shots hit on the sweet spot feel effortless, but even on miss hits feel good. The ball flight has good height and provides plenty of stopping power, especially on short irons. The clubs work well in different conditions, wet, dry, cold, hot.

The biggest issue that I have with these, and why I gave then the rating that I did, is the distance. I noticed the first time I used them that they did not have the distance of my previous set. I thought maybe it was just me that day, but I have noticed the same thing on each round that I have played. After years of playing to the distances of my previous set I am now having to adjust and rethink my distances with the new set. The Grand Hawk XP Irons are about 1 to 1.5 clubs shorter than the Grand Hawk XR Tour Irons. The only difference is the club head, the shafts are same and even the ball is the same. So, depending on the clubs you are currently playing these could be shorter in distance.

Wow!!!!
These clubs are unbelievable. I built a set 4-PW,AW,SW with Apollo Acculite 95 shafts and Golf Pride CP2 Wraps. They feel as good if not better than the real thing. I got to play with them just this morning and they are crazy long(took me some gettin used to). They have excellent distance, height, and brakes. The fly high and land soft. I didn't get to use every iron in my bag, but every one I used was at least a 1/2 to 1 club longer than my previous RocketBladez clones. After shooting a 88, which is below my 23.4 handicap I could be happier, and more satified. Thanks to the crew at DTG for a job well done.

Oh by the way I beat 2 of my golf partners who have the "real thing" and couldn't believe that I was more accurate, longer, and scored better than they did, for not even 1/3 the price. They couldn't believ that mine we clones and not the real thing. Sorry, Charlie....lol

Great Irons
I just received my Grand Hawk XP Iron heads. First glance they are slightly larger than my previous irons, but not enough to make it matter. They are absolutely beautiful to look at, and if it wasn't for the Xp on the head they would probably be mistaken for the real (Xr) thing. I have only been able to put 2 irons together so far but they feel absolutly great with the Apollo Acculite 95 shafts(that I have been usig and loving since they came out) and the Golf Pride CP2 grips with an additional wrap of tape. I can't wait to get them all finished and get to the course, I think I'll have a lot of the Callaway users I play with very jealous. Great job Diamond Tour!!
I'll add another review once I complete them and get to use them on the course.....

The Grand Hawk XP Iron is an iron built for maximum velocity. The undercut design combined with an ultra-thin steel face is designed to provide extra "spring" on shots hit anywhere on the face and this technology also increases ball speeds. This series also has a lower center of gravity (CG), to maximize forgiveness. This is a great design for all levels of golfers looking to improve their iron game!
