What is Bounce/Sole Angle?

  

Bounce angle is a measurement of most importance on wedges, particularly sand wedges. Bounce is measured in degrees, in which the trailing edge of the sole is below the leading edge. As a rule the greater the bounce angle, the more the clubhead can cut through tall grass and resist traveling too deep into sand. Conversely a wedge with 10-12º bounce (typical sand wedge bounce), being hit from hard pan would tend to “bounce” into the ball causing a bladed hit.
