Impressive driver head
I've heard of SMT driver heads for a few years now, being mostly favored by long drivers. I am by no means a long driver, but I saw some very good reviews for the SMT Indio driver head so I decided to buy one. I shafted a 9.5* Indio with a UST-Mamiya AXIVCore 60 gram regular flex graphite shaft. For me, this combination is really working well. The driver feels and sounds so solid. The sound is a muted one, not the aluminum can sound of so many titanium drivers. Distance is a little better than previous drivers, mostly due to additional roll, so this apparently is giving me lower spin. Accuracy is good too because I seem to be hitting more fairways than I have recently. Overall, I'm very happy with the SMT Indio driver head and its performance. I highly recommend it.

Impressive driver head
I shafted the SMT Indio driver (9.5*) with a regular flex UST AXIV Core 60 wood shaft (3.5* torque) and this combination is very impressive. At impact, the SMT Indio feels and sounds so solid and stable (no hollow tink like the "aluminum bat drivers" out there, but a muted solid impact sound). Accuracy seems to be better with this driver than with my previous drivers, and distance is as good or better. I'm not a big hitter, but I think I can see why the SMT Indio (and other SMT driver heads) are among the favorites of the long drivers out there. Again, this really is an impressive driver head.

Excellent
This is an amazing driver head. The SMT line is one of the best out there. Great feel and sound. Jeff at DTG is superb. Looking at the DTG wedges, they look good. May try them.

Well worth the money!
In looking for a low loft driver head, I'm really glad that I came across the SMT line up. After choosing the 5.5 degree head, I paired it up with a Tour Issue Miyazaki C.Kua 72 X Flex Shaft, which I trimmed 1" making the club play 46". The face has a nice feel and the sound is positive and pleasant. The trajectory is piercing and HOT and I'm surprised at how straight the ball wants to fly. My natural ball flight is a draw. It seems to fly a bit higher if you strike it slightly toward the toe. The club is easy to hit and hits it longer than anything that I've tried thus far. In my opinion, it's well worth the money!

Details

The Indio, or as we call it here “the designers choice’, is quite unique in that it has turned out to be the “go to” clubhead for clubmakers and players alike, regardless of skill level. The longest heel to toe measurement in the entire group of SMT heads, the Indio is so easy to line up and aim it is frightening. With a relatively shallow and sleek overall appearance, the classic pear shape and “old school” stone grey color makes your Indio driver a bit of a sleeper by modern standards, but rest assured, while the size of the head appears relatively small, the design of the head makes it appear larger than you first think. The Indio sports a patented full double forged crown design, and there is no other club on the planet that has the high tech appearance of this titanium masterpiece. We were able to forge the crown piece on both sides, reducing the weight much like a composite crown driver, but still retaining the feel and sound of classic titanium that players of all levels crave.
We then found ourselves with some extra weight to play with and being that spin profile and launch angle are always on our mind, we mathematically formulated the deep groove sole pattern which hides the extra weight placement in a powerful and exciting appearance and at the same time reduces the loud sound that a titanium driver of this size normally would have.
The Indio is far and away the best feeling driver of the SMT line due to this unique design and center of gravity placement. This clubhead also affords the player with ease of trajectory needed to enjoy the game from the very first ball of the day.
While not a clubhead used in long drive competitions, we were blessed with a victory in our adopted Australia and proud to add the Indio to the rest of the list of successful drivers in the SMT Golf line.
You will find that your Indio will want to play higher than stated loft and will be softer feeling at impact regardless of ball chosen or weather conditions.
