Designed with many of the same features as the SMT Babylon, the patented crown design of the SMT Indio stands out from the crowd. The revolutionary cross-hatch crown has been forged with weight reduction and rigidity in mind. The bottom of the crown has been forged with a different, tear drop design which also reduces weight and increases rigidity to strengthen the crown. The result: a blend of technology and functionality that delivers a crown that is lighter but will withstand the violent effects of ball and club impact better than traditional manufacturing techniques. So, what did SMT do to counter the weight that they removed from the crown? SMT cut deep angular fins to add more product area to a sole of similar size. SMT was able to add weight in all of the ‘right’ places without welding weight chips onto the inside of the soleplate or through the addition of copper screw systems.
