I built the 3+ to a length of 46.5" using a Sabre Tour Vector shaft to use as a "control driver". Actual round tee shots measured 260 - 280 yards using a GPS. Ball flight has a nice trajectory with incredible air "hang" time. Even off-center and fat shots resulted in satisfactory shot placement and distance.
I haven't hit this FW from the turf, and won't. A 13° FW is too shallow for that task.
I use a #2 hybrid for those shots.
The Integra SoooLong Quadratic is at the pinnacle of fairway wood technology. This technology works by moving the weight further back and more towards the heel and toe, hence the square shape. This way, it creates a more forgiving fairway wood. To understand this, it's important to understand Moment of Inertia (MOI). MOI is the term applied to how resistant the clubhead is to twisting when a ball is struck. For example, if your swing is a little off and you hit the ball on the toe of the clubhead, a clubhead with a higher MOI will twist less as a result of the mis-hit. This creates a better chance that the ball will still go where you intended and with less loss of distance. Testing has shown 8-10 percent improvement with regards to accuracy on mis-hit shots.
