Glad to hear the snow is gone for you as well. Good luck with the new clubs and make sure to let me know how you liked them.

the irons are playing just like the original ping rapture... i like them! straight and high!

tried the hybrids... ball goes really high, but not that far xD so i guess i'm doing something wrong

haven't tried the woods yet, cause only played a few par 3's and short par 4's

i did struggle with the driver... didn't get a single nice shot Sad
balls were flying really low and so not straight... i'm using the stock FGS plus graphite shaft (should be stiff, cause the iron set is stiff)

but i'm 100% sure it's my lack of skill Very Happy or i'm just doing something wrong...

Steven,

Thanks for the feedback, if the performance of the driver doesn't improve please contact me directly, we can always try another shaft.

well, went to the golf course during easter and saw a trainer there
there was also a guy with the original rapture v2

he smacked them the same distance... he said on the backswing the both feel the same... but on contact, the zforce doesn't feel right

so he asked me if the zforce is using titanium like the rapture v2? no idea Smile

i'm finally able to drive it over 250 yards... but 7 out of 10 i'm slicing... i swear if the ball was flat shaped... it would go around and hit me on the head!

any tips to correct this slice? it's the 10.5* with FGS graphite plus (R/S) is this shaft the same one for regular and stiff?

thanks!

The FGS plus shaft is the same for regular and stiff in terms of appearance, the difference is in how the shaft is cut prior to being installed.

Regarding materials for the head, I'm not sure what materials Ping uses, they generally do not release that information, at least not that I have been able to find. We do list our material specifications.

The slice with a driver is one of the most common faults in golf. From an equipment stand point switching to an offset or closed face driver can help.

From a swing standpoint getting the club coming on an inside path is the key, I would advise taking this up with a local teaching professional.

We certainly need to improve that percentage whether that involves changing the equipment or working on your swing. We need solid contact on the driver at least 6 out of 10 times in my opinion and obviously the more the better.

Thanks for the reply Dan!

I was trying to find Ping's specs for their driver but no luck.
I mean, it's not like I need the best of the best, I'm just picking up this wonderful game... but it was a question the guy at the course threw at me and I was just curious.

Sometimes I just close the face of the driver to solve the slice. But I am trying to find a way to solve it without doing this, cause if the pro at the range can hit it straight, then it's gotta be my problem.

The contact with the ball is always solid and right in the middle of the face (I know that cause after every shot I clean the face to see the ball mark on it) The sweet spot hit is like 9 out of 10. But why the ball slices that's what I'm trying to figure out.

I got 2 lessons tomorrow with the pro and we'll be focusing on driver and woods.

Thanks again! I'm sure I'll get better and reach 10 out of 10 straight drives!

confirmed! i went to a ping fitting day
wanted to test "the real thing" against my x3

driver:

ping rapture v2 10.5* with diamana something stiff
vs
zforce reflex x3 10* with FGS stiff

result: same distance xD i even liked x3 sound better
also tried the 12* and the 9* and no no didn't like them

irons:

ping rapture v2 7 iron with AWT stiff shaft
vs
zforce reflx x3 7 iron with DT lite steel shaft

result: ping ball flight was higher (i guess due to the tungsten sole or whatever it's called) but pretty much sure the carry distance was about the same

conclusion: why spend $2000 on a set when i can do the same with a $350 set from DT?

happy customer!
