this may be a bit of silly question but I am tryiing to understand the difference between men and women golf clubs
My daugther who is 13 stands about 5' 5" is playing off a handicap of 15 after playing for about 2 years on a links type course using mens standard size clubs ie DTG old INTEGRA VG 88 with iDRIVE TOUR 3.1 graphite shatfs
how much of an better or what is the advantage if she changed to ladies equipment? what is the difference - is it the weight, the length, the shaft ?????? ?
your choice of ladies equipment seems to be limited (she is a bit of a tom boy and she does not do pink) can the mens clubs be adapted into ladies lengths, shafts types and weight? or must I go else where? |

Dave,
To answer your question there are only a couple variables to consider when looking at the difference between mens and womens golf clubs. First being the color of the clubs, most womens clubs will have a more feminine look to them using colors such as pink and or purple. Obviously this is a aesthetics issue only with no playability changes. Second Womens clubs as an industry standard are 1/2 shorter then the mens clubs. So a mens 5 irons is typically 38 inches where a womens would be 37 1/2 inches long. Womens clubs also come with a womens flex shaft. Other then Junior clubs these are the most flexible shafts made and are designed for slower swing speeds. Finally Womens golf clubs are usually built with the lie angle 2 degrees flat as a standard. This is because women are by nature shorter then men, however in many cases women don't need there irons bent flat.
To conclude just because you are female doesn't mean that you need womens clubs. The best bet would be to go on Diamond Tours website under the assembled irons and click on iron fitting. There you can put in her information and get a much better idea of what she actually needs as far as shaft, length and lie.
