I had a Grand Hawk I 9.5 head with a UST competition stiff shaft that I hit fine, nice trajectory and length. This club was replaced with the DTG Felon 10 head and a FGS Nanotech R flex shaft. My swing speed is 96 mph, I thought this new head/shaft combo would add distance to my drives. For some reason with this new head shaft combo, the trajectory of my drives are very low and the ball does not carry very far. I also noticed to make good contact, I need to tee the ball up lower and not play the ball as far forward in my stance as I had with previous drivers.

I am thinking about replacing the shaft with something that will give me higher trajectory. What would you recomend?

Thanks

John

John,
I am sorry to here you are having problems with the trajectory on the new club. I believe I have an answer your problems. The Ust shaft has significantly more torque and a much longer parallel tip section. Even though you went to a R flex the characteristics of the nano shaft are going to make the shaft firmer then a normal regular. The lower torque and short parallel tip section are going to make the ball flight considerably lower. The FGS tour launch 60 or the fgs Ultra Light 55 would both be suggestions that I would make. However please feel free to give me a call directly and I will be happy to talk to you about a different shaft option.

Thanks Jeff. Of those two suggestions you made I am leaning towards the fgs tour launch 60. The fgs Ultra light 55 has the mid bend point and mid lauch so I thought the fgs tour lauch would be better due to the low bend point and high launch. Im nervous that if I get a shaft with a mid launch like the nanotech I currrently have I will have the same issue with low trajectory. Does this logic seem right or should I not be as concerned about those specs on the shafts?

John,
Both shafts I think would suit you just fine and the FGS U/L 55 will hit it slightly higher in my opinion then your Fgs Nano because of its characteristics. However if I had to pick one I would be leaning toward putting you into the Fgs Tour Launch just because it has a more active tip and lower kick point. These two things should show you a noticeable change in ball flight. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Johno4,
If your looking for a quality shaft with a low kick point/ high ball flight at a great price you have found it. We lowered the price on these shafts down to $29.99 each which is less then half what they were selling for. I am using this shaft in my 3 wood and have no plans of changing anytime soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Also here is the link if you need it.
