This is possibly a very silly question from a very bad golfer. Has anyone ever tried making clubs all the same length?
For example, let us say that most players probably hit their short irons the best and the most accurate. If that be the case, then why not make all the clubs (PW thru Driver) the same just changing the loft?
See, I told you it was a silly question. |

Duffer Jim,
You reasoning is exactly correct that the shorter the club the easier it is to hit. However there are a couple reasons why it wouldn't be a good idea to make all your clubs the same length. First all the club heads weigh a different amount, therefore the swing weights and the shaft flex would be different with every club. Also every club has a different lie (angle of how the golf club sits in relation to it's length) therefore if you make the clubs all the same length the lie of all but one of your clubs would be wrong.
Let me know if you have any further questions about this.
