How to Choose a Golf Course

* Cost
How much are you willing to spend? As discussed in Golf Course Types, you can choose any course ranging from the relatively cheap Public Golf Course to the well manicured Greens and Fairways of a more expensive Private Golf Course.

* Your Golf Skills vs. Golf Course Difficulty
Are you a beginner, an intermediate or a pro golfer? As a Golf Beginner you may enjoy a Golf Course that challenges you but also allows you to make non-fatal mistakes. Playing in a course with a lot of Golf Hazards of a relatively high difficulty level will probably make you want to quit after a few holes. Going for a Golf Course that is too easy, on the other hand mightl bore you. Note: the higher the course rating or slope, the more difficult the course is. The rating may range from 55 to 155 and the average rating is 113. Don't hesitate to call and ask if the course is tight, has lots of water, etc.

* Location & Conditions
Would you like to take a trip out of town to Play Golf or just stay within your community. Golf Courses in different places vary in weather condition, the Type of Grass used and in many other factors. The wind may be blowing hard on one course while the other is relatively "windless". It is better to try a new Golf Course when you have the chance, this way you improve your game in general and not just improve your game in a particular course. Playing on Different Courses makes you a more well-rounded golfer.

* Pace of Play
Playing Golf in a Public course may require you to have a faster game pacing because of the long line of people waiting for their turn to have some Tee Time. If you want to have a more leisurely golf pace, you will have to go to a more private course where you do not risk being annoying for others by playing too slow. If you do not have the budget for a more expensive golf course, you can just play when only a few people play.
