Foregolf,
I am not exactly sure if I understand the question your asking but I will try and help. The bulge is the refers to the amount of curvature on the face of a club from heal to toe. With DTG drivers the average amount is 12 as far as it relates to the Bulge. The bulge has no effect if the ball is struck in the middle of the club face but for heel and toe shots the bulge will make the face either open or closed. The bulge uses the gear effect in order to help a heel shots which would want to hit the golf ball left by putting counter acting spin on the ball trying to bring in back to the right. Obviously the exact opposite for toe shots.
As far as the Roll this refers to the curvature on the face from the top of the club to the bottom. The average DTG driver has about 11 and again has no real effect on center hits but will increase the trajectory on high impact hits and decrease it on low impact hits. One last reason for Bulge and roll is durability, if the face was flat it would not hold up to nearly as well the abuse that drivers take by simply hitting balls. Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Jeff |
