I am a 23 handicapper and I am in the process of purchasing a new set of irons. I was wondering what the best set up for me would be and if i should wait until the new club models come out or not. I was looking to spend around 300. If there is any advice for me i would greatly appreciate it!

Buck -
Your query is one that all golfers ask at one point or another & is why we read the golf mags for tips & visit sites like DTG, but is very difficult to answer.

The golf industry is unique in their marketing...the clubs that you bought 6mos ago are no good anymore because the next "new-&-improved" model came out. All of that is mularkey.

There are so many different variables to consider new clubs. Of course you want to consider the performance features, feel, & visual appeal. These questions, obviously, only you can answer.

There are so many options out there it does get very confusing. Personally, I would take your time & review DTG's site carefully. I take you'd find something there that would appeal to you. FOR SURE-go thru the on-line fitting process or call a DTG CSR for other suggestions.

You may want to peek at the sale or clearance sections...I have found great values there. For a 23HCPer like yourself, the GH XFuzed may be an nice option (I play this model myself & have flirted w/ getting my HCP into single digits...btw I had 'upgraded' to these after using the Ping Zing2s for 10yrs which good success). It is hase a VERY wide sole, but is still very pleasing at address.
If your interested in steel shaft, you may want to consider a Higher Lauch one, like the TT Release (also on clearance). This will get the ball up in the air a bit easier & inspire confidence & has a very similar weight to DTG "standard" DT-Lite shaft, but has TT's proprietary 'sensicore' which will enhance the feel. There are quite a few graphite options on the site as well if you are considering that option. Some of the clearance graphite models are cheaper than some steel shafts.

Pick yourself out a good, comfortable grip in the right size & you should be able to rock-&-roll for well less than $200.

Don't be afraid to try grips from companies that aren't as "Pro-Line" as Lamkin, Winn, or Golf Pride. Avon, Tacki-Mac & Pro-T are all nice products w/ value-minded price points some comparable models are 1/3 the price. Personally, I have been using Avon's Chamois II with good success & think it may be one of the best values in DTG's site. With the added savings, you can consider a hybrid club or 2 or a set of wedges & putter (don't forget the easiest way to get that HCP down is with the short game).

Best of luck w/ your search!!

Just a second opinion from a customer. After researching the site for probably way to much time it would make a normal person to make a decision I finaly went with the Grand Hawkwide soled as well. The best part for me was the way the clubs looked at adress when i recieved them. I feel like I am getting the cinfidence of hitting a hybrid everytime with the control of a iron. I also went with the tacki mac grip's. I love them.
HOWEVER:
I would suggest one thing. I feel that the wedges with this set (and I ordered the Sand wedge) are a little to thick. I have skulled a few more short approahes and sand shots when I tried to pick them clean. I came on today to price some new wedges.
If you do end up getting these please update with your results I would like to compare them with mine. Shot 96 first day with clubs. yesterday after 5 rounds shot a ver EASY 83 on the same course.

One last thing.
There is another problem with these clubs. All my friends always want to hit them. I feel like a DT rep now when I go to the course.
